What we do
TokDown takes a public TikTok URL, checks that the post is reachable, and asks a licensed processing provider which download formats that post exposes — typically an MP4 video, an MP3 audio track, and the individual images from a photo post. We then show you those options. The tool never fabricates a “successful” download: if a format is not available for a post, it is not listed.
Our approach
- Simple by default. One input, clear format labels, honest error messages. No settings to learn.
- Private. We only use the URL you submit to run the request. We never ask for a TikTok login, and you should never give your password to any download site.
- Accurate information. Every claim on this site is checked against how the tool actually behaves before it is published.
- Responsible use. We ask you to download only media you own or have permission to save, and we respond to valid copyright notices — see our DMCA & copyright policy.
How we create and review the content on this site
- Research. We start from the questions people actually ask about downloading TikTok media and from TikTok’s own published behaviour.
- Draft. A writer produces the guide or FAQ answer in plain language.
- Technical verification. A developer runs the described steps against the live tool on a real device and corrects anything that does not match.
- Editorial review. A second person checks the page for clarity, accuracy, and over-claiming.
- Updates. When TikTok changes something or the tool’s behaviour shifts, the affected pages are revised and the date is bumped.
Our full process is documented in the editorial policy, including how we use AI assistance.
Who runs TokDown
TokDown is built and maintained by a small independent team of web developers who work on browser-based utilities. Technical review of every published claim is done in-house against the live product. If you need to reach a specific person about a correction or a legal notice, use the contact page.
What we don’t claim
- We do not guarantee a no-watermark or HD version for every link — that depends on the source post.
- We cannot process private, deleted, age-restricted, or region-blocked posts.
- We do not host, cache, or redistribute TikTok media, and we do not provide a way to download from private accounts.
- We are not a legal advisor. Whether a particular download is allowed depends on the content and your jurisdiction.
